The Haus des Lichts care centre for mentally and physically handicapped children and adolescents in Schäßburg was born out of the desire to give people back their dignity and help many of those affected. People with disabilities are still kept away from public life and receive hardly any therapy. Children with disabilities who are able to develop and train find competent support in the day care centre and are supported according to their talents. The foundation “Pentru Familia Creştină” started this project in September 2008 with the first three children. There are now 30 children and young people who are regularly cared for in this centre and who are making visible progress in their development thanks to the professional competence of the staff. The young adults can now pursue meaningful employment in a nearby workshop for the disabled.
The nehemia team is committed to the support, maintenance and further development of this valuable work. Since the Romanian state only gives a small subsidy, we are very grateful for donations (keyword: “House of Light”). It is also possible to sponsor a child with disabilities (40€/month).
