THE VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER @MIWANI CENTER
At the end of September 2024, the nehemiah team’s training centre welcomed its first trainees, who can now acquire a sound basic education in these professions:
Agriculture, IT, construction, hairdressing and tailoring.
Up to 30 young adults will attend one of these training programmes in the future.
The trainees live on site in specially renovated accommodation on the 46-hectare farm. They provide for themselves – everything is kept very simple.
At the nehemia centre, personal development and strength of character are promoted not only through professional training but also through living together, mentoring and a community consciously shaped by Christian values. People from very different tribes come together and are taught how to live together peacefully. The training centre is partly funded by grants for a total of 18 months.
However, the project is only made possible by a considerable amount of own funds generated through donations. In this way, every euro donated is multiplied and brings even greater added value to the project.
From 2025, we will still have to charge the students a school fee of around €65-80 per month to cover the running costs. However, this will not be possible for many families.
SPONSORSHIPS FOR TRAINEES
We are therefore launching the TRAINING SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME to ensure that the training centre is run on a permanent basis. The aim is to sustainably promote vocational training for young people in the rural district of Kisumu.
A further positive aspect will be that the young people will remain in the region and contribute and multiply the skills they have learnt there.
A sponsorship means: €40 per month, or around €1.30 per day, which enables a young person to build a dignified and independent life.
And YOU can play a big part in this by taking up a sponsorship.
Supported with grants from the „Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung“
